About Me

My name is Calum (Neil MacDonald) Gillies and I’m an artist and content creator born and raised on the tiny island Raasay. I’m an experienced tour guide and social media manager, as well as specialising in the production, creation and editing of video photographic content, as well as artwork, illustration and writing.

Growing up on Raasay, I’ve developed a passion for history and the outdoors, and I can most often be found in my shed, working on a project or pottering around the isle of Raasay distillery, where I’m currently Head of Tours & Content Creation. I’m responsible for most of the copy, video & photo content that you’ll see there (and on the Isle of Raasay Facebook/Twitter page).

Feel free to get in touch, I can be found at calumgillies@outlook.com. You can also message me through my Twitter account.

Photography

I do a huge range of photography at work and in my personal life, and you can find a variety of my photography on my blog and my Instagram page. On my projects page, I’ve done a few deep-dives into projects, such as the photography for our recent Raasay Gin project.

Videography

Much like my photographic work, the range of video projects I’ve done varies greatly, from small film projects to larger campaign videos and trailers for the distillery. I plan, produce, shoot, edit and write the majority of projects myself, and my personal work can be found on my youtube channel. As well as the examples I’ve included here, some more in-depth looks at my projects can be found on my projects page.
